This may be a uncomfortable topic for some
If my nose was thinner, If my hair was straighter, If my skin was darker, If my skin was lighter...The 'If my's could go on'
or
She's too fat, Her nose is too big, Her hair's frizzy or She's too dark.
Many of these conversations have plagued many of us for years and have been imbedded into the foundation of how we see ourselves.
Even though society has come along way when it comes to freedom of expression some ethnicities have been failed to be represented in mainstream media. However, with this observation who actually sets the standard anyway? Who can really define beauty?
I was terribly discouraged growing up as a child. My mother who is extremely lighter than I and a biracial brother would question the tone of my skin. I use to ask God why I was born like this? why was i so ugly?I wanted to be light, bright & beautiful.
Now, I see many young girls that find themselves in this predicament, I am committed to being the best role model i can be and remind them that they are more than just skin.
At the end of the day...
Proverbs 31:30 says 'Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praisedPsalms 139:14 says 'I will praise you o lord, for i am fearfully and wonderfully made'and if you're not into bible verses..... Lady GA GA says 'You're on the right track baby, you were born this way'
Be the best you can be! on this space there will be Makeup reviews and beauty blogs....However, i just wanted you guys to know that real beauty comes from within.
